The San Bernardino Teen Music Workshop has had an exciting winter season so far! We had a Christmas show at Arroyo Valley High School, filled with entertainment and holiday cheer! We also played at Disney California Adventure and Knott’s Berry Farm, where we captured some amazing moments on camera, which you can check out on our media page! There is a fundraiser to raise money for the workshop at Applebee’s in Highland on January 9th. You can enjoy a delicious breakfast paired with live solo and duet performances from our very own talented musicians. We have a jam-packed season ahead of us, which includes an R&B Concert celebrating Black History, the grand opening of the Yucaipa Performing Arts theater, and the San Bernardino Art/Music Festival!
Here's what you missed on the San Bernardino Teen Music Workshop show: We moved to the Sturges Center for the Fine Arts where we practice Thursdays from 5pm-8pm with our beginner group and on Sundays from 5pm-8pm with our advanced Motown group called Soul Pointe! We have two new and talented teachers: Miss Simone (the dance instructor) and Miss Desihre (the vocal coach)! If you're ever in the mood for some amazing R&B music, come check out The Soulful Sunday Brunches at The Rose in Pasadena. Some of the tremendous highlights of this past summer were our shows at Lake Arrowhead, the Ontario Convention Center, the Central Park in Pasadena, the California Theatre Of The Performing Arts, Knott's Berry Farm, and the Yucaipa Music Festival! We look forward to playing some more great events in the Winter, like Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farm!
But wait... there's more! Alive in the Lights released their new single, Changes, on every music platform you can think of: Spotify, Youtube, Apple Music, etc! They also had an active summer opening for artists such as Patty Smyth of Scandal and Nancy Wilson of the famous Heart at The Rose in Pasadena.
A little mid-summer update for the lovely boys and girls of the IE! Disney shows are postponed until winter of this year, but we've still been busy this summer with bands playing venues like Knott's Berry Farm, The San Diego Fair, The Hard Rock Cafe, The Whisky A Gogo, The House of Blues, and many other local shows.
We've also taken the liberty of updating our recording studio with state-of-the-art equipment to ensure the highest fidelity recordings for our writers and musicians. Expect to hear more amazing songs and albums coming out of our doors in the coming months and years! Our live sound setup has also improved! With a full digital board and powered speakers, subwoofers and monitors, we can now rock at even some of the largest venues that don't have their own sound systems.
WHERE ARE THEY NOW?
One of our former students and instructors, Joseph Bergee, is away at Oxford over the summer after completing his bachelors degree at California State University, San Bernardino. Congratulations Joe! It's exciting to see someone who's not only an excellent musician, but also an excellent scholar as well.
WHAT'S NEXT FOR THE TMW?
A lot. That's whats next. *wink*
We've got bands continuing to play bigger and bigger venues, writing and recording more and more songs, and build larger and larger fanbases. We wouldn't be surprised if you saw some of them at Warped Tour in the next couple of years.
But that's pretty far in the future. We're still doing our thing, teaching the basic and advanced skills of guitar, drums, piano, and singing and bringing up the next generation of rockers. We never know who's going to walk through our front doors next and knock our socks off.
Ah, it's that magical time of year again. The leaves are falling off the trees, the snow is coming down outside, and we're all huddled around a tube amp for warmth here in the recording studio ever since we've been snowed in...
This is SoCal! We're taking a little time off from our usual performance schedule for the winter and focusing on our individual bands, but trust us, there're still plenty of shows to be played. We've got performances lined up at Knott's Berry Farm, The Orange Show, and of course the Disney California Adventure showcase.
Oh, and remember when we said we were locked away in the recording studio last winter? Well we weren't joking then. The girls of Alive In The Lights have been hard at work mastering their tracks on their new EP, Contradictions which is now available pretty much everywhere. It sounds fantastic too! Great job, girls. We've also set aside some recording time this winter for some of our other bands to produce their EP's as well.
In this nebula of talent that is the San Bernardino Teen Music Workshop, we've also had a few new bands form. Their genres span from acoustic to alt-rock, so they're a little different in that sense, but they all share ground in the talent category! We can't wait to put them on stage and share them with all of you. Right now, though, they're busy writing and practicing, so we'll wait a little while for them to get ready.
So that's the Winter summary. Come see our shows listed on the calendar and check back soon for more Spring/Summer tour dates.
P.S: We're also updating our website, so check back in soon for information about our staff.
The San Bernardino Teen Music Workshop summer season has begun! As some of you may have already seen on our schedule, we've been performing quite a bit the past month all over Southern California. We played Sea World, California Adventure, and even ended up on a live TV broadcast while playing for Feeding America. The performances don't stop there, either. We have performances scheduled at Disney California Adventure every weekend in August and a show in Lake Arrowhead in September, so there are still plenty of opportunities to come and see a live performance. If you can't come to see the shows live, you can still see some of the songs we play that we've uploaded to our YouTube channel. Click Here to visit our channel or just search for "San Bernardino Teen Music Workshop" in the search bar. We'll upload more videos as we perform. Some of our EP's are being mastered and are almost ready for publishing as well. So stay tuned, Inland Empire, because more TMW goodness is coming your way soon in the form of concerts, records, and videos!
Although there is no ice to melt in sunny So-Cal, we're excited that the weather is starting to warm up. Warm summer nights are perfect for ball games and music festivals, and luckily we'll be participating in a couple of those this season. If you haven't already seen our full schedule, available at the Looking Glass Studio, you can check out a list of the spring and summer performances here. Just click on "Tour Dates" to see a list of the public performances. As mentioned before, California doesn't have to hunker down inside for the couple of light rainstorms it gets during winter, so we've been working hard on some fantastic new EP's that should be popping up on iTunes sometime soon. Don't worry about missing the launch. We'll keep reminding you right here. Until then, we'll keep practicing and writing, and you make some room in your schedule to see some of our performances. Sound like a good deal? Great! See you soon.
